Job Description

Our client, a highly successful US law firm, is looking to recruit an Accountant EMEA to join their expanding London office. The Accountant EMEA will work closely with the Accounting Manager EMEA to ensure the firm remains compliant within the regulatory and statutory requirements in Europe and the Middle East and will be responsible for the production of monthly management information and reporting. The role will act as deputy for the Accounting Manager EMEA when they are absent from the office and will assist in building and developing an efficient and effective finance function for the EMEA region.

  • Co-ordinate annual statutory filings with external accounting firm and preparation of year end schedules in line with UK accounting practices
  • Co-ordinate the annual Solicitors Accounts Rules audit
  • SAR compliance reporting
  • Assisting with the preparation of the annual budget as and when required
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow) with timeliness and accuracy
  • Prepare cash flow projection report for the firm's partnership
  • Analytical review and variance analysis of firm expenses
  • Analysis of capital expenditures, depreciation and amortisation
  • Prepare and record journal entries for month-end close
  • Prepare account reconciliations (bank, trust account, intercompany, payroll etc.)
  • VAT reporting
  • Ensuring that client account transactions are processed in accordance with the SAR
  • Co-ordinate UK payroll submissions with external payroll provider
  • Assist with implementation and development of policies and procedures
  • Special ad hoc reporting and projects

The ideal candidate for the Accountant EMEA role will be qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) and will have law firm or professional services experience. You will have a thorough knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules, Elite 3E or Enterprise or Aderant, and law firm finance systems. You must be a team player who is solution focussed and accurate, as well as an excellent communicator and confident in liaising with people of all levels, including partners. You must have an understanding and appreciation of confidentiality. You must have an enthusiastic and proactive approach, common sense, and the ability to build strong relationships.
