Job Description

Ryder Reid are working with a successful and growing international law firm to recruit an Operations and HR Director for their London office on a 12-month contract basis. The Operations and HR Director will manage the day-to-day administration of all office operations to ensure smooth running of the office. The Operations and HR Director will work closely with the Partners, and key responsibilities will include:

  1. Office Management -
  • Assist the London Partners with the development and implementation of the London office strategic initiatives and culture.
  • Active member in the following committees: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee, Social Committee, Operations Committee, and Global Operations Team. Participate in and facilitate the running of the London Management Committee, Operations Committee and partner meetings including preparing an agenda and taking minutes.
  • Oversee daily operations. Identify and resolve issues that adversely impact on the efficient running of the business.
  • Be a visible representative of the London office at external conferences and networking events to ensure the office is kept abreast of market trends and developments.
  • Oversee renewal of office policies, monitor health and safety compliance procedures including keeping up to date with Government guidelines.

  1. Human Resource Management & Recruiting -
  • Oversee the London office HR and recruitment lifecycle.
  • Manage HR files.
  • Coordinate biannual performance evaluation process for all employees and conduct performance reviews for the HR and PA team.
  • Oversee the legal and non-legal recruitment.
  • Coordinate and manage any immigration requirements.
  • Responsible for all employee relations within the firm including performance management, grievances and disciplinaries.
  • Manage employee benefits including the annual benefit renewal.
  • Process payroll with our third-party provider monthly.
  • Review and update firm policies.

  1. Facilities
  • Oversee and manage improvement and maintenance works for the London office.
  • Manage any space planning or office fit out requirements.
  • Attend quarterly tenants' meetings.
  • Liaise and renew contracts for office vendors.

The ideal candidate for the Operations and HR Director 12 month contract role will have strong relevant experience from a legal or professional services firm and will be of degree calibre. You must have strong communication and organisational skills, and the ability to liaise and influence at all levels. It is essential that you have a flexible and hands-on approach. The ability to multitask and work effectively to deadlines is required, and you must be able to act with the utmost discretion. You will have an analytical mind-set, as well as being an effective people manager. You must be a strong team player, with a confident and proactive personality who enjoys the variety and challenges of working within a high performing environment.
